Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Michael Hall are developing a new science fiction series for Prime Video called 'Singularity.' This project, in development for nearly a decade, is being positioned as a potential rival to HBO's highly successful satirical drama, 'Succession.'
Initial reports of the collaboration between Downey Jr. and Hall emerged in November 2016. The series title, 'Singularity,' suggests a focus on artificial intelligence surpassing human consciousness, drawing comparisons to sci-fi shows like 'Westworld' and 'Altered Carbon.'
However, co-creator Anthony Michael Hall revealed that the show's development was delayed because its plot bore too many similarities to 'Succession.' To address this, veteran writer Brad Falchuk, known for 'American Horror Story' and 'Glee,' has been brought on board to co-write the series.
Falchuk is expected to focus on 'Singularity' after completing his current project with M. Night Shyamalan. The series will also mark Robert Downey Jr.'s directorial debut. Both Downey Jr. and Hall are slated to star in 'Singularity,' with anticipation building for further production updates from Prime Video.
