Dove Cameron recently discussed the challenging dynamics of her past romantic relationships during an appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. She revealed that some of her previous relationships were "trauma bonds" and that she failed to recognize "red flags" at the time.

Following difficult breakups, Cameron took an extended "two-year dating romantic sabbatical." During this period, she focused on personal healing and self-improvement, stating she felt "so disturbed" by past choices and needed time to become comfortable with being alone.

Cameron also shared that prior to meeting her fiancé, she entered a "celibacy era." This phase lasted about a year and involved significant introspection, which she referred to as a "dark night of the soul."
