26 Aug
Summary
- Dolly Parton's final wishes included a country-gospel hymn and a private service.
- An unreleased song is sealed in a box until 2046, her 100th birthday.
- Her Broadway musical will proceed as planned after her passing.

Dolly Parton, who passed away recently at the age of 80, had meticulously planned her final farewell.
Her chosen funeral song was the country-gospel hymn "If We Never Meet Again," a tribute to her father. Parton also envisioned a small, private service for her closest family members.
As a unique posthumous gift, Parton wrote and recorded a song titled "My Place in History" in 2015. This recording is sealed within a chestnut box at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort, with instructions not to open it until January 19, 2046, which would have been her 100th birthday.
The box also contains a CD player, ensuring the music can be heard. In contrast to this distant release, her Broadway musical, "Dolly: A True Original Musical," is set to begin previews on December 7 at the St. James Theatre in New York City, with its official opening on January 19, 2027.
