Empire State Building honors Dolly Parton with pink glow

The Empire State Building is set to honor the late Dolly Parton with a special illumination. Beginning at 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday, the iconic New York City skyscraper will glow pink. This timing is a direct nod to Parton's chart-topping 1981 hit song, "9 to 5."

Parton, a legendary figure in music and philanthropy, passed away at the age of 80. Tributes have poured in from across the nation, celebrating her contributions to music, childhood literacy through her Imagination Library, and her support for early COVID-19 vaccine research.

While widely known for her Tennessee roots, Parton also had a connection to New York City, having owned a penthouse apartment in the 1980s and receiving a key to the city in 1978. The city will soon welcome a Broadway musical, "DOLLY: A True Original Musical," set to open in January 2027.
