Dolly Parton Musical Hits Broadway This Winter

Broadway audiences will soon experience the life of country music legend Dolly Parton in a new musical titled 'Dolly: A True Original Musical.' This production is set to begin preview performances on December 7, 2026, at New York City's St. James Theatre, with its official opening night scheduled for January 19, 2027, coinciding with Parton's 81st birthday.

The musical, directed by Bartlett Sher, chronicles Parton's rise to global superstardom, tracing her journey from humble beginnings in the Smoky Mountains. The show's score will comprise Parton's most beloved hits, including "I Will Always Love You" and "Jolene," complemented by new songs written by the artist herself, who also penned the book.

Following a sold-out premiere engagement in Nashville, which proved highly successful, the Broadway production aims to offer audiences an unfiltered look into the iconic singer-songwriter's life. Casting for the lead role on Broadway has not yet been announced, but three actresses shared the part during the Nashville tryouts, portraying Dolly at different life stages.

Fans can access presale tickets starting July 8, 2026, with general sales opening on July 10, 2026. Tickets will be available for performances through November 21, 2027.
