Dolly Parton's legacy continues to shine through the launch of three limited-edition Dolly Dolls on September 15. These collector's items, named Dreamin' in Gingham, World on Fire, and Diamond in a Rhinestone World, were created by the Dolly Archive in partnership with Integrity Toys. They are also tied to the upcoming Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum, set to open on September 29.
The initial idea for the dolls came from Rebecca Ann Seaver, Parton's niece and the museum's executive director. She received Parton's blessing for the project before her passing. The limited initial release sold out rapidly, prompting Seaver to assure fans that more dolls are planned for release next year.
Seaver clarified that the dolls were designed to embody Dolly Parton's glamorous persona rather than replicating her exact likeness. Each doll is inspired by different eras of her career, including her "World on Fire" album and her signature gingham style. The Diamond in a Rhinestone World doll, a museum exclusive, is based on a costume Parton wore in a virtual concert filmed for the museum.
Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25 at age 80, had the opportunity to approve the dolls and participate in a photoshoot. Seaver described this as a deeply special moment, making the commemoration of Parton's life and career through these dolls bittersweet.
