Parton likened her health struggles to a "run-down car," mentioning a "slipping transmission" and "leaking oil pan." She explained that her immune and digestive systems became imbalanced over the past few years and are currently being rebuilt.

The decision to cancel the residency and explore alternative performance methods comes after Parton prioritized her husband Carl Dean's care, leading her to neglect her own health. She also recently withdrew from an appearance at Dollywood on doctor's orders, opting for a virtual presence at the theme park's new roller coaster launch.
