Doctor Who Lands on AMC+ Streaming
14 May
Summary
- Thirteen seasons of Doctor Who, 2005-2022, are now on AMC+.
- AMC+ acquired streaming rights for most of the 21st-century run.
- Latest seasons with Ncuti Gatwa remain on Disney+.
AMC+ has secured the streaming rights for a significant portion of the iconic Doctor Who series. Beginning June 11, thirteen seasons, covering the ninth through thirteenth Doctors from 2005 to 2022, became available on the platform. This move represents a homecoming for the show, as BBC America, also part of AMC Networks, previously aired it in the U.S. for many years.
Courtney Thomasma of AMC Global Media expressed enthusiasm for the addition, stating Doctor Who enhances AMC+'s genre offerings. The acquired content includes over 150 episodes featuring actors such as Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, and Jodie Whittaker. Notably, the most recent seasons starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor are not part of this deal and continue to be available on Disney+ in the United States.
