Sycamore Studios has announced production is underway for "Doctor Dolittle: King of the Wild," a new animated feature film. The movie will be animated in partnership with Reel FX Animation Studios and is based on Hugh Lofting's literary property.
In the film, Doctor Dolittle, a world-famous zoologist, must clear his name after a live-streamed expedition inadvertently leads a legendary creature into the hands of poachers. With public opinion turning against him, Dolittle will need to reunite with three estranged zoo friends for a critical rescue mission.
Directed by Timothy Reckart, "Doctor Dolittle: King of the Wild" is Sycamore Studios' first feature release. The studio also plans to expand the "Doctor Dolittle" property into a broader franchise, including graphic novels, gaming, and location-based entertainment.
Cooper Waterman, Sycamore's Head of Production, expressed excitement about reintroducing the character, emphasizing the ambition to honor the legacy while creating a visually compelling and emotionally resonant experience for a global audience. Reel FX Animation, known for films like "The Book of Life," will collaborate on bringing this vision to life.
