Summary
- A new film will combine characters from Django Unchained and Zorro.
- Oscar-winner Brian Helgeland will write the crossover script.
- The project is currently in early development at Sony Pictures.

Sony Pictures is developing a new film that will merge the worlds of "Django Unchained" and "The Mask of Zorro." Brian Helgeland, an Academy Award winner for "L.A. Confidential," has been chosen to write the script for this anticipated crossover. The movie's plot details are still emerging, but it is expected to center on Django, the bounty hunter, forming an alliance with the vigilante Zorro.
This project draws inspiration from a 2014 comic series co-written by Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner. Tarantino has long envisioned a "Django" meets "Zorro" story, though he will not direct this iteration. While actors Jamie Foxx and Antonio Banderas, who previously portrayed Django and Zorro respectively, have not yet signed on, Banderas has confirmed Tarantino approached him about the film. The project is in its nascent stages, with no director yet attached.
