Summary
- Disney's Animal Kingdom's Restaurantosaurus is being demolished after nearly 30 years.
- The closure makes way for a new Tropical Americas land opening in fall 2027.
- Fans express deep sadness over the loss of the fan-favorite dining spot.

Demolition is underway at Disney's Animal Kingdom for Restaurantosaurus, a popular dining spot that had been open for nearly 30 years since the park's debut in 1998. The closure of the prehistoric-themed eatery, which officially shut down in early February of this year, has deeply saddened many Disney fans.
The demolition is part of a larger transformation of the DinoLand USA area. This section of the park is being redeveloped to create the new Tropical Americas land, with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2027. Restaurantosaurus is reportedly set to be replaced by a new hacienda-style quick-service location.
In addition to the restaurant, the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom also permanently closed in February. This attraction, originally named Countdown to Extinction and a park staple since 1998, will be replaced by an Indiana Jones-themed attraction. The upcoming Tropical Americas land will encompass 11 acres and feature multiple areas and three new rides.
These changes are part of Disney's ongoing efforts to introduce new attractions across its parks. Hollywood Studios has seen the closure of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which will be re-themed, and Muppet*Vision 3D. Magic Kingdom is also undergoing significant changes with new lands inspired by the Cars franchise and a Villains-themed area planned.
