Disneyland Surprise: Beloved Ride Stays Open Longer
21 Feb
Summary
- Monsters, Inc. ride now open until 2027, extended from 2026.
- New Eastern Gateway project influences attraction's revised timeline.
- Avatar land and other new experiences are still on schedule.

Disneyland has announced an extended operational period for the Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sully to the Rescue! attraction, now scheduled to close in 2027. This move is a revision from the earlier planned closure in early 2026. The decision stems from adjustments in the construction sequencing for upcoming park developments.
The Eastern Gateway project, a significant infrastructure improvement, is set to begin construction in fall 2026. This project includes adding approximately 6,000 parking spaces, new shuttle areas, and a pedestrian bridge. The revised timeline for this foundational project allows the Monsters, Inc. ride to continue operating for an additional year.
Park officials confirmed that this scheduling adjustment will not impact the timeline for other major expansion projects. These include a new Avatar-themed land, a Coco-themed ride, and enhancements to Avengers Campus. The DisneylandForward plan, approved by the Anaheim City Council, supports these multi-year expansions for new attractions and infrastructure.
