Disney+ Reverses Course: Iconic Franchises Return to Netflix
2 Oct
Summary
- Disney is licensing select franchises back to Netflix for a limited time.
- Major franchises like Marvel and Star Wars are excluded from this deal.
- Several legacy shows are being added to Netflix, hoping for a viewership boost.

In a notable shift, Disney is again making some of its content available on Netflix. This decision comes years after Disney pulled its library from other streamers to bolster its own platform, Disney+. This new agreement allows select Disney properties to stream on Netflix in the coming months.
While core franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Animation, and Pixar are notably absent from this deal, several other titles are included. All five 'Ice Age' films will be available on Netflix for three months starting October 4, 2026, to promote the upcoming 'Ice Age: Boiling Point' film. Additionally, the initial two seasons of 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' will stream on Netflix beginning October 4, 2026, ahead of season three's release on November 20, 2026.
Stand-alone Disney Animation and Pixar films like 'Soul,' 'Elio,' and 'Raya and the Last Dragon' are slated for an early 2027 release on the platform. Broadcast series produced by 20th Century, including 'Will Trent,' 'Shifting Gears,' and 'Tracker,' will also arrive on Netflix on November 3, 2026, February 26, 2027, and December 1, 2026, respectively.
Several legacy shows are also being added, hoping to gain popularity through the 'Netflix bump.' 'Felicity' will be available globally starting October 7, 2026. 'Revenge,' 'Fresh Off the Boat,' and 'This Is Us' are also expected to be added, though specific dates are pending.
