In a significant move, Disney+ has partnered with Tving, the leading Korean streaming platform, to expand its Korean content offerings in the Japanese market. Effective November 5, up to 60 of Tving's top-performing original series and CJ ENM drama titles will be made available on Disney+ Japan.
The collaboration will introduce Japanese audiences to a diverse slate of acclaimed Korean content, including fan-favorite shows like "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" and "Reply 1988." Leading the charge is the exclusive premiere of "Dear X," starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, and Kim Do-hoon, which will stream day-and-date with its Korean debut on Disney+ Japan starting November 6.
To showcase the expanded Korean library, Disney+ Japan will introduce a dedicated "Tving Highlights" section on its homepage, positioning the content alongside the platform's franchise tentpoles and original programming. Subscribers will also gain access to the "Tving Collection," a curated hub aggregating the streaming service's diverse range of emotionally driven and genre-defining series.
The partnership is a strategic move by Tving to expand its global footprint, leveraging Disney+'s strong presence and deep history in Japan. "This collaboration with Disney, which has a strong presence and deep history in Japan, is an opportunity to most effectively present Tving content to local viewers," said Tving CEO Julie Choi.
