Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson presented a luminous spring collection for Dior at Paris fashion week, drawing inspiration from Claude Monet's waterlilies and Seurat's romantic paintings. This season marked a distinct shift from his debut, which featured a darker, more introspective theme.
The runway was transformed into a pond reminiscent of the Tuileries gardens, complete with lily pad-like structures. Anderson expressed feeling more relaxed and forward-looking this time, stating, "Last year was so intense... but now I feel free to release it from that."
The collection itself balanced strength with sophistication, featuring dresses with chiffon waves and intricately beaded layers. The Dior atelier's skill was evident in delicate paillettes and a shearling coat crafted to resemble Astrakhan lamb fur. Anderson also incorporated trousers with elegant button detailing, offering a 'high-low' blend.
A wine-dark cashmere and mohair coat with a black satin shawl collar was a personal favourite for Anderson, highlighting Dior's legacy in crafting exceptional outerwear. This collection signifies Anderson's evolving vision for the iconic French fashion house.
