Dionne Warwick Sues Rights Firm for Millions
11 Mar
Summary
- Dionne Warwick accuses AREC of stealing millions in royalties.
- AREC previously sued Warwick over unpaid commission.
- Warwick's contract with AREC was signed without a lawyer.

Dionne Warwick has initiated legal action against the Artist Rights Enforcement Corp. (AREC), asserting that the firm illicitly obtained millions of dollars in royalty revenue. Warwick's lawyers characterized AREC as a deceptive entity, "cloaking itself in professional credibility while concealing its own self-interest."
This countersues AREC's December 2025 lawsuit, where the firm alleged Warwick owed them substantial unpaid commissions for royalty recovery services. One transaction cited involved clearing a sample for Doja Cat's song "Paint the Town Red."
Warwick's legal team filed their countersuit on Monday, detailing a one-page contract from 2001 where Warwick agreed to a 50% share of recovered assets, a contract signed without legal counsel. The suit claims AREC collected this share from 2002 through March 2026, without Warwick's full knowledge.
Following a request for documentation from Warwick's new legal team, the Davis firm, in September 2025, AREC allegedly provided inadequate records. This led to a termination letter and demands for statements, which AREC reportedly responded to with their own lawsuit.
Additional complaints in Warwick's filing include breach of fiduciary duty and fraud by omission. Warwick is reportedly working on her final album, DWuets, with the first single set for release on March 20.
