DinoLand USA at Disney's Animal Kingdom has officially closed its gates on February 1, 2026, concluding its run since 1998. The popular dinosaur-themed area is set to be transformed into an 11-acre "Tropical Americas" land. This new section will draw inspiration from the biodiverse regions north and south of the equator in the Western Hemisphere.
The upcoming Tropical Americas land aims to evoke a lived-in feel with a rich history, similar to the park's Harambe area. Two signature attractions are planned: an all-new Indiana Jones ride offering a unique global experience where guests join Indy in a Maya temple, and a recreation of the magical Madrigal house from Disney's "Encanto," focusing on Antonio's rainforest adventures.
Disney has announced that the Tropical Americas land is slated to open in 2027. The central plaza, named Pueblo Esperanza, will feature one of Disney World's largest quick-service restaurants, designed as a hacienda. This development marks a significant shift for Animal Kingdom, moving from prehistoric themes to vibrant South American and Caribbean-inspired experiences.
