Dillom Confronts His Demons in Raw New Album

Dillom's new album, 'La Nueva Violencia,' released on August 12, confronts the artist's struggles with fame and societal issues. The 13-track project is a self-devouring exploration of contemporary ills and personal demons, reflecting on the destructive cycles fame can create.

The artist, Dylan León Masa, describes the album as a response to the "siege" of constant digital information and the punitive nature of social media. He admits to feeling like both a victim and a perpetrator within the system, acknowledging its undeniable allure.

Musically, 'La Nueva Violencia' blends post-punk, rock 'n' roll, electroclash, and acid house, with influences from artists like Charli XCX and Dorian Electra. The production is characterized by its raw, experimental textures, and Dillom intentionally preserved imperfections like laughter and vocal mistakes.

Recorded over two weeks in an intensive, phone-free residency, the album captures a sense of "future memory" and the raw realities of the creative process. Dillom aimed to "kill his 'self,' his character," presenting a voice that speaks from a more shared experience, detached from ego.

The album closes with "Amigos," a more intimate track reflecting on the importance of friendship as an anchor in a chaotic world. Dillom embraces his contradictions, finding them a powerful source of inspiration and artistic expression.
