Pavan Malhotra: Diljit Dosanjh's Hindi Debut Sparked by Punjab 1984

National Award-winning actor Pavan Malhotra believes Diljit Dosanjh's Hindi film career was significantly boosted by the 2014 Punjabi movie 'Punjab 1984.' Malhotra, who shared the screen with Dosanjh in this film and later in 'Super Singh,' highlighted the period drama's critical role in introducing Dosanjh to the broader Indian film industry.

Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Punjab 1984' is set against the backdrop of the 1984 Punjab insurgency and also features Kirron Kher. Malhotra described the film as having a special magic and being one of Anurag Singh's best works. He recalled initial skepticism about making a Punjabi film but felt the director's balanced and thoughtful approach to the sensitive subject matter was crucial for his involvement.

The veteran actor further expressed his admiration for the film's storytelling and the cast's performances. Malhotra singled out Diljit Dosanjh as an outstanding and exceptional actor, praising his delivery and expressions. He also acknowledged Kirron Kher's brilliant performance in the movie, which left a lasting impression on him.
