His strategy focuses on embracing his Punjabi heritage rather than adopting a homogenized identity. Dosanjh recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, a significant Western cultural platform. During his second appearance, promoting his album Aura, he chose to reference the 1914 Komagata Maru incident, a deeply poignant historical event for Punjabis. This act brought a moment of historical pain and reclamation to a global audience.

The Komagata Maru incident involved a Japanese steamship carrying 376 passengers, primarily Punjabis, being denied entry into Canada in 1914. After being held for two months, the ship was forced back to India, where 19 passengers were killed and many others imprisoned. Though apologies have been made, the memory persists.

Dosanjh's reference was an invocation of inherited memory and a quiet assertion of pride and redemption for his community. He brings his full Punjabi identity—including language and Bhangra—to global stages, demonstrating a powerful duality of humility and clarity.
