Speculation is rife about Lisa Bonet reprising her iconic role as Denise Huxtable in the newly released Netflix sequel to "A Different World." The original sitcom, a "Cosby Show" spinoff, saw Denise leave for college in its first season. While Bonet departed after season one, a recent phone call from Denise in the sequel has ignited fan hopes for her return.
Despite the cliffhanger, castmates Jasmine Guy, Cree Summer, and Darryl M. Bell voiced skepticism about Bonet's involvement. They suggested that Bonet, 58, may have opted for a different life direction. Bonet last reunited with the "A Different World" cast in 2006 for a "Hillman College Reunion Week" special, where her character shared life updates post-Hillman.
Marisa Tomei, who also starred in the first season as Maggie Lauten, remains close friends with Bonet. Tomei recalled living with Bonet during the show's production, highlighting their shared experience. Season 1 of the Netflix revival is currently available for streaming.
