In the upcoming Paramount+ psychological thriller "Little Disasters," Diane Kruger stars as Jess Carrisford, a mother whose seemingly perfect life starts to crumble. According to the exclusive trailer, Jess's friend, Dr. Liz Burgess (Jo Joyner), has made the "excruciating decision" to call social services on Jess over an unexplained incident involving one of Jess's children.
The trailer opens with Jess and her friends toasting 10 years of friendship, but Jess admits that her "life's not perfect." The scene then cuts to chaos in Jess's household, with crying babies and an eventual trip to the emergency room. "I'm a bad mother," Jess says, as doctors appear to be operating on her child.
Jess's husband, Ed (J.J. Feild), demands that she explain herself, but she can't. Liz then tells Jess that "any unexplained injury of this nature triggers an investigation." Jess is devastated, asking her friend, "How could you make that call?"
The trailer goes on to show the fallout, with Ed apparently exploring life beyond his wife, and Jess's friend Jo (Ben Bailey Smith) claiming that she and Jess have drifted "apart." Kruger delivers a riveting, emotional performance as a woman struggling to understand what has happened to her family.
"Parents can do some terrible things in moments of frustration," Jo says at the end of the trailer, hinting at the complex themes the series will explore.
