Keaton Reflects on Blessing of Not Marrying Longtime Love Pacino

In a 2017 interview that has recently resurfaced, the late Diane Keaton, who passed away last Saturday at the age of 79, reflected on her past relationship with renowned actor Al Pacino. Keaton and Pacino had a 5-year on-and-off romance, and the actress revealed that she had thought they would eventually get married. However, Keaton stated that the fact they did not tie the knot was "a blessing for both of us."

Keaton explained that she did not even want Pacino to propose, as she simply assumed they would just get married at some point. But that never happened, and the actress said it was for the best. "It would have been a nightmare for him," Keaton admitted, noting that they were both "very eccentric" individuals who needed different things in a partner.

The iconic actress, who starred in numerous Woody Allen films, also discussed her personal and professional relationship with the controversial director. Keaton defended Allen against accusations of sexual assault, stating that she was most attracted to his brilliant mind and the way he wrote "insanely brilliant female characters."
