Diana Silvers is set to release her new album, "Daughter of Sorts," on November 13. The collection features 14 intimate folk songs that explore the transition from girlhood to womanhood. Silvers, who will turn 29 on November 3, was inspired to create music reflecting this life stage.
The album also deeply engages with themes of grief, stemming from the sudden death of her father in October 2025, the same month her debut album, "From Another Room," was released. Silvers co-produced "Daughter of Sorts" with Jason Alder at the Houdini mansion in Laurel Canyon, aiming to mirror the experience of being "skyrocketed into adulthood" after losing a parent.
Silvers, known for her acting roles, has been singing since childhood. She began with cello and piano before transitioning to guitar around age 14. After a brief, unsatisfying experience with a pop song produced by a record label, she focused on developing her own artistic vision, valuing a more private life.
"Daughter of Sorts" includes interludes and experimental touches, inspired by artists like Joni Mitchell and Björk. The album also features a collaborative track, "un(Lovers)," with members of The Strokes and Wallows. Silvers recently wrapped production on the film "Asymmetry" and plays Jennifer Levin in the true-crime drama "PREPPY."
