Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia has voiced strong criticism regarding the current state of storytelling in the Hindi film industry, specifically questioning the plot of the film 'Dhurandhar.' He described the basic premise as lacking narrative depth, stating, "This is not a story." Dhulia elaborated that filmmakers are increasingly constrained by commercial considerations, leading to a prevalence of repetitive templates.

He directly linked this trend to "extreme capitalism," suggesting that the fear of a film not performing at the box office stifles creativity. Dhulia extended this critique beyond cinema, observing a similar sameness in fashion and urban identities, indicating a broader societal impact of commercialization. His upcoming directorial, 'Ghamasaan,' starring Pratik Gandhi and Arshad Warsi, is set to release on ZEE5 on September 11.
