Dhruv Kapoor Reimagines Fashion with Memory & Movement

Dhruv Kapoor's Spring Summer 2027 collection, presented in Milan, centers on the themes of memory, movement, and transformation. This season features his collaboration, PUMA X RCB X Dhruv Kapoor, integrating sportswear and collective identity into his signature deconstructed aesthetic.

Kapoor skillfully manipulated familiar PUMA and RCB visual elements, shifting and enlarging logos and shapes to create a sense of renewed recognition. The collection's concept of movement extends beyond sportswear, with silhouettes transitioning between eras and styles, from loose and flowing to cropped and fitted.

Influences from Indian attire, such as the lungi, vest, and saree, were translated into contemporary forms. Kapoor captured the essence of wrapping, folding, and layering, integrating these gestures into modern silhouettes with a sharper, urban edge that felt distinctly Indian without being literal.

The collection embraced intentional imperfection. Embroidery meandered across seams, and prints evoked faded posters and weathered surfaces. Fabrics like silk bonded with jersey, crushed checks, and uneven leather contributed to a narrative of items aging and evolving with use.

Accessories, including the 'Constant' trunk and reimagined footwear, enhanced the collection's tactile and sculptural qualities. Eyewear from Paloceras added an architectural dimension, while the styling emphasized a curated, collected-over-time feel rather than strict seasonal coordination.

Kapoor's designs showcased a deliberate contrast between polished and worn elements. Exposed seam allowances and underlayers became part of the aesthetic, highlighting the garment's construction.
