Dharmendra's Dual Marriages: Navigating Love and Duty

As of November 13th, 2025, Bollywood veteran Dharmendra, who was recently discharged from Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, continues to reside with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their four children, including actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur six years before making his acting debut in 1960, when he was just 19 years old.

Dharmendra's second wife, Hema Malini, has spoken openly about the respect she holds for Prakash Kaur and her family. In her authorized biography, Hema revealed that she and Prakash had briefly met at social gatherings before Hema's marriage to Dharmendra in 1980. Despite the unconventional living arrangement, Hema has maintained her dignity and dedication to her art and culture. She expressed satisfaction with Dharmendra's role as a father to her and their daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol.

Hema acknowledged that while she and Dharmendra live separately, she does not feel bad or sad about the situation. She has focused on raising her children and is content with her life, stating that "no husband and wife like to live separately, but sometimes circumstances are such that a person has to accept it."
