On September 15th, 2025, the city of Dhanbad played host to the 'Apna Diya, Apni Diwali' event, which showcased the spirit of 'Op Sindoor'. The celebration brought together people from various sections of society, who enthusiastically participated in making their own diyas, a symbol of unity, patriotism, and self-reliance.
Hundreds of students from St. Xavier's School International took part in the event, learning the age-old Indian craft of clay art by creating diyas on the traditional potter's wheel. The organizers, led by Shyam Pandey, emphasized the importance of promoting locally made products and discouraging the use of imported, especially Chinese, decorative lights.
The event was attended by prominent personalities of Dhanbad, adding to the festive atmosphere. One participating student expressed his excitement, saying, "It was an amazing experience to make a clay pot with my own hands. It requires balance, speed, and patience." Each participant took home the diya they had crafted, a tangible representation of their self-made celebration.
