Real "Emily" From Devil Wears Prada Speaks Out

The real-life individual who inspired the character of "Emily" in The Devil Wears Prada has come forward. Celebrity stylist Leslie Fremar revealed to Vogue that she is the basis for the character, who served as an assistant in the popular film. Fremar was hired by author Lauren Weisberger, who previously worked as a junior assistant for Anna Wintour, the inspiration for Meryl Streep's character.

Fremar shared that she worked with Weisberger for eight months and believed Weisberger didn't fully appreciate the job opportunity. She recalled a confrontation with Anna Wintour after the book's release, where Wintour noted Weisberger had written a book about them. Fremar mentioned the book's initial draft was quite critical but later softened. She also revealed that Emily Blunt showed little reaction when Fremar told her she was the character's inspiration.

Reflecting on her past, Fremar acknowledged her own high-strung demeanor, feeling she was performing Weisberger's duties alongside her own. She expressed that a reunion with Weisberger now would be very awkward, as they have not spoken since Weisberger left Vogue.
