America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit is set to captivate audiences once again for its 99th iteration, celebrating under the theme "Thanksgiving is Better in Detroit!" The iconic procession will wind its way down a three-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue, beginning at Kirby Street and concluding at Congress Street.
This year's parade boasts an exciting lineup, including Detroit Lions legend Dexter Bussey, actor Christopher McDonald, and popular characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, alongside Santa Claus. The festivities are scheduled to commence at 8:45 a.m., with the main parade taking approximately ninety minutes to complete its route.
Beyond the main parade, Detroit will also host the Turkey Trot races earlier in the day. Road closures will be in effect throughout Midtown and Downtown starting Wednesday evening, with full reroutes in place by Thursday morning, impacting local transit and necessitating careful planning for attendees and residents.
