The highly anticipated Nordic noir thriller, 'Detective Hole,' inspired by Jo Nesbø's novels, is now fully streaming on Netflix. This nine-episode series has quickly become a talking point for 2026, boasting a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes and rapid global popularity.
The show delves into a dual narrative: a suspenseful serial killer investigation and a profound character study of two law enforcement officers. Tobias Santelmann portrays the brilliant but troubled Detective Harry Hole, who is pursuing a ritualistic killer terrorizing Oslo. He also contends with his morally compromised colleague, Tom Waaler, played by Joel Kinnaman, whose criminal activities Harry aims to expose.
Praised for its atmospheric Norwegian setting, 'Detective Hole' is described by critics as stylish, gritty, and suspenseful. The series adeptly balances graphic violence with introspective investigations, maintaining momentum throughout its run. Fans of the Nordic noir genre will find 'Detective Hole' a compelling successor, offering a moody and deliberately uncomfortable viewing experience.
