Young Afrofuji artist Destiny Boy, celebrated for fusing traditional Fuji music with modern Afrobeats, has passed away. He first achieved national recognition in 2019 when his viral social media version of Davido's hit song 'If' gained widespread attention. He continued to release original music and covers of popular tracks.
His family has disclosed that Destiny Boy had been managing a long-term illness which manifested in frequent seizures. His mother stated that the family had pursued both conventional medical care and traditional remedies for his ailment.
Recent social media videos purportedly showing his body being taken to a mortuary fueled rumors surrounding the cause of his death. However, his mother indicated that relatives often had to restrain him during seizures to prevent him from harming himself.
Destiny Boy, who began his career as a backup dancer for Fuji musician Pasuma, passed away approximately one year after welcoming his first child with his partner, Iremide, in November 2024.
