- Annual Halloween festival generated £7.4m for economy.
- New partnership to deliver future Halloween events.

The North West Carnival Initiative (NWCI), a key arts organization in Londonderry, is set to cease operations as it enters administration. For years, NWCI has been central to the city's renowned Halloween and St Patrick's Day parades, notably creating large-scale puppets and costumes with community involvement for the Halloween festival.
Last year, the globally recognized Halloween carnival program in Derry attracted over 100,000 international visitors. The event is a significant economic driver, estimated to have generated approximately £7.4m for the local economy in 2025 alone, despite costing around £550,000 to stage.
Despite NWCI's closure, plans are already in motion for the upcoming 40th anniversary Halloween event. This will be managed through a new partnership led by a creative director, involving multiple organizations and community groups to ensure continuity and support local artists.
