Summary
- A Derbyshire mum unexpectedly joined a TV knitting competition.
- She reached the final eight before her elimination.
- She will now open a new specialist wool shop in Burton.

Stephanie Thompson, a 65-year-old from Thulston in Derbyshire, discovered her unexpected path to television stardom through her daughters' encouragement. They urged her to watch 'The Game of Wool,' a Channel 4 knitting competition hosted by Tom Daley. Thompson applied and was selected from thousands of hopefuls to compete against nine other talented knitters.
Her passion for creating knitted jumpers caught the judges' attention, and she progressed through the challenges, reaching the final eight contestants. Despite leaving the competition in episode three after a holiday deck chair challenge, Thompson cherished the experience, particularly meeting fellow crafters and learning from their conversations.
Following her successful run on the show, Thompson has been invited to a special role. She will officially open 'The Crafty Attic,' a new specialist wool shop and haberdashery in Burton, on December 6th, further celebrating her love for all things wool.
