As of November 5th, 2025, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Fernando Meirelles has begun production on his Netflix heist film, Here Comes the Flood, in New Jersey. The movie has added four new cast members to its already impressive lineup, including Danai Gurira, Sean Harris, Moisés Arias, and Justin Kirk.
The film is led by Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Written by Simon Kinberg, Here Comes the Flood is described as an unconventional heist thriller centered on a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief caught in a deadly game of cons and double crosses.
Kinberg and Audrey Chon are producing the project through Genre Films, with Meirelles also serving as a producer and Samson Mucke and Katia Washington as executive producers.
The new cast members bring a wealth of experience to the film. Gurira is best known for her roles in the Black Panther films and The Walking Dead, while Harris is a BAFTA winner with recent credits in Spencer and Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Arias has appeared in Jockey and Monos, and Kirk is an Emmy nominee known for Weeds and Succession.
