Mullet Madness: Denmark Crowns Hair Champion

On Saturday, Copenhagen, Denmark, was the scene of a unique celebration of the mullet hairstyle. The fourth annual Danish Mullet Championship took place outdoors, attracting over a thousand spectators and twelve meticulously styled competitors. Organizer Steffen Stiw Weber initiated the event four years ago after personal experience with growing a mullet.

Competitors were judged on cut style, uniqueness, and performance, including 'mullet moves.' Each contestant had 60 seconds on stage to impress judges like Bobby Agren, who owns two Copenhagen hair salons and appreciates the style's "ridiculous or maybe ugly in a beautiful way" aesthetic. The event featured over-the-top performances, with one contestant even styling their hair like the Danish flag.

Forty-three-year-old construction worker Thomas Berg was awarded the top prize after a dynamic trampoline performance while wearing neon green gym wear. Berg, who completed his look with an orange headband, described the event as a "big party" and a chance to "be a bit outside the box." The mullet hairstyle, though popularized in the 1990s by groups like the Beastie Boys and previously favored by musicians and athletes, has seen a global resurgence in recent years.
