Veteran actress Denise Welch is hinting at exciting new ventures, with recent work including an appearance in the Channel 4 thriller Tip Toe. Welch, celebrated for her iconic role as Natalie Barnes in Coronation Street and her return to Waterloo Road, is reportedly heading back to her North East origins for fresh opportunities.
Her role in Tip Toe saw her portray Diane, a 67-year-old woman navigating her desires and sexual activity, a character Welch championed as representing women beyond typical "nana" roles. She featured in the third episode of the series, noting Manchester as a welcoming place from her early Coronation Street days.
Further adding to her busy schedule, Welch has completed filming for a new six-part Channel 5 drama, Forever Home. Adapted from a Graham Norton novel, the series was filmed in Northumberland and is scheduled for release later in 2026.
The drama centers on a wife's disturbing discovery in her basement, leading her to suspect her husband might be a killer. Welch expressed her deep connection to the North East, calling it her "Forever Home" and highlighting the positive experience of filming there.
