Dempsey Bryk has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming second season of "We Were Liars," a thriller series from Amazon MGM Studios. Based on E. Lockhart's award-winning young adult novel, the show will feature Bryk in a more prominent role as Ebon.
Bryk's character, Ebon, was introduced in the first season as a street-smart Bostonian who works on Martha's Vineyard, chartering boats for the affluent. Despite his initial reluctance to get involved in the elite's hidden affairs, he finds himself drawn into their complicated lives.
The series centers on Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her privileged circle of friends, known as "the Liars," who return to a private island each summer. The narrative delves into a mysterious accident that caused Cadence's amnesia, revealing the dark secrets her seemingly perfect family harbors.
"We Were Liars" Season 1 featured a cast including Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence, Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, and David Morse. The show is co-showrun by Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie.
In addition to his role in "We Were Liars," Bryk is also set to premiere his feature directorial debut, "Crash Land," at SXSW. The film is a dark coming-of-age story about amateur stuntmen.
