Delnaaz Irani: Breaking Free From Sweetu's Shadow

Delnaaz Irani, widely remembered for her role as Sweetu in "Kal Ho Naa Ho," is actively seeking to redefine her acting career. Despite cherishing the audience's enduring love for the character, she acknowledges that her comedic timing has led to typecasting.

Irani has expressed a desire to step away from roles primarily defined by humor. She is keen to explore diverse characters and demonstrate her capability in more serious or emotionally nuanced performances. This ambition stems from her personal and professional growth, seeking roles that excite her daily.

She pointed to Rakesh Bedi's recent performance in "Dhurandhar" as inspiration, hopeful that the industry is becoming more receptive to actors known for comedy taking on dramatic roles. Irani believes social media also helps audiences see actors' real selves beyond their on-screen personas, fostering greater opportunities for exploration.
