Delhi HC Rejects Plea to Halt Sunny Deol's New Movie
5 Nov
Summary
- Court refused to halt Sunny Deol's film 'Suryaa' release on November 20.
- Similar doctor concerns are already under consideration in a separate petition.
- Petitioners advised to join ongoing proceedings rather than file multiple cases.

The Delhi High Court has denied a request to halt the release of Sunny Deol's new film, "Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak," scheduled for November 20. The court stated it would not entertain a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a stay, as similar concerns raised by the medical community are already being heard in another pending case.
A single judge had previously issued a notice regarding a petition alleging the movie misrepresents doctors in private hospitals as corrupt and incites violence against healthcare workers. This existing petition is scheduled for a hearing on November 16.
The division bench emphasized that multiplicity of proceedings is unnecessary, even if the current petitioners are also doctors. They were granted permission to join the proceedings before the single judge and pursue their representations with the relevant authorities.
The PIL was filed by Dr. Nachiketa Bhatia and Dr. Dhruv Chauhan, who argued that the film's trailer promotes violence against medical practitioners and unfairly generalizes corruption in healthcare. They sought modifications or deletions of objectionable content.
