In a significant ruling, the Delhi High Court has ordered the immediate takedown of a song alleged to feature rappers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah, citing its "vulgar" and "derogatory" content. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav observed that the track, reportedly from around 2006, was deeply offensive and lacked any artistic or social merit.
The court expressed profound disapproval of the lyrics, describing them as demeaning towards women and promoting an unacceptable portrayal that reduced them to mere objects. It stated that such content was "grossly vulgar, obscene" and could not be permitted on digital platforms by any civil society.
Issued notices to both artists, the High Court acted upon a petition filed by the Hindu Shakti Dal. It directed the duo and all other rights holders to ensure the song's complete removal from online platforms. The court also instructed the Central government to block any additional links hosting the track identified by the petitioner, emphasizing that the song crossed acceptable limits of civility.
