Delhi CM Praises Kantara: Chapter 1 for Celebrating India's Cultural Heritage

On October 7, 2025, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with the team behind the critically acclaimed film Kantara: Chapter 1, including director and lead actor Rishab Shetty. The meeting, which took place at the Mukhyamantri Janseva Sadan, emphasized the important role of Indian cinema in preserving and celebrating the country's rich cultural and traditional heritage.

In a post on her official social media, CM Gupta expressed her admiration for the film, stating that Kantara: Chapter 1 "beautifully reflects India's spiritual depth and cultural richness, bringing alive the essence of our traditions." She further praised the team, saying that "works like Kantara proudly carry the spirit of our heritage to the global stage."

Kantara: Chapter 1, which was released worldwide on October 2, 2025, has made a strong impression at the global box office. The film, set in the 4th Century AD, explores the origins of the mystical land of Kantara, delving into its mythology, historical conflicts, and spiritual themes. The film has connected with audiences across different languages and regions, emerging as one of the more successful Indian releases in recent times, earning around ₹335 crores in its opening weekend.

The film, written, directed, and led by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, has been praised for its unique storytelling and its ability to showcase the richness of Indian culture and tradition.
