Filmmaker Réi's new horror movie, 'Death Name,' is scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, exclusively on Tubi. The film features Kevin Woo, formerly of the K-Pop group U-KISS, in a story about a young Korean American woman who delves into her past, inadvertently awakening a perilous family curse. This adds to Woo's growing filmography, following his appearance in Anderson .Paak's 'K-Pops!' movie.
Meanwhile, Réi's live-action short film, 'Shutter Bird,' has been submitted for consideration at the 98th Academy Awards. The short stars Dallas Liu and Isabella Ferreira and explores the intertwined struggles of a troubled Latina photographer and an Asian American delinquent attempting to escape their small-town existence. It's noted as a tribute to a departed friend and the Santa Ynez Valley community.
