In a remarkable milestone, the beloved Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) will complete 30 golden years on October 20, 2025. The Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-starrer, which has been playing daily at 11:30 am in Mumbai's Maratha Mandir, continues to captivate audiences even after three decades.
Manoj Desai, the Executive Director of Maratha Mandir and G7 Multiplex, has been instrumental in keeping the ticket prices affordable for DDLJ. However, he recently revealed that the theater had to increase the balcony ticket rates by Rs. 10 due to pressure from the Theatre Owners Association. Other nearby cinemas were selling tickets for as high as Rs. 150 to Rs. 200, prompting them to raise the balcony price from Rs. 40 to Rs. 50.
Despite these challenges, Maratha Mandir has remained committed to maintaining low ticket rates for DDLJ. Desai credits the theater's managing director, Mr. Arun Nahar, for this decision, stating that he believes in keeping the prices affordable to attract more audiences rather than desperate attempts to fill empty theaters with high-priced tickets.
