Director's Surprise: No Bloodlust in New Hit

Arun Matheswaran's latest film, 'DC,' has achieved significant box-office success, grossing over Rs 100 crore worldwide. This achievement is particularly notable due to the film's distinct narrative style. Matheswaran, known for his unconventional filmmaking, adopted a more straightforward, linear story with rapid cuts and an energetic pace for 'DC.'

This shift in approach was inspired by a suggestion from his wife, who noted that his previous chapter-based structures might feel tiring to some viewers. Consequently, Matheswaran instructed his team to maintain a brisk rhythm, with no single shot exceeding 10 seconds, and composer Anirudh Ravichander was asked to treat the score almost like a musical. This created a dynamic, fast-paced viewing experience.

Despite the on-screen violence often present in his films, Matheswaran confessed to a personal aversion to blood in real life. He draws a clear distinction between cinematic violence, which he sees as a storytelling tool, and real-world blood, which he finds disturbing. The film stars Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi and is now available for streaming.
