26 Sep
Summary
- Daz Dillinger still receives payments for recognizable elements of 2Pac's song.
- Cam'ron used a reworked beat, but Daz Dillinger was not credited as producer.
- Suge Knight's alleged harassment led to another producer receiving credit.
Daz Dillinger, the producer behind 2Pac's "Ambitionz Az a Ridah," revealed that he continues to receive royalties whenever artists incorporate recognizable elements or riffs from the 1996 track into their music. He cited examples from artists like The Game, Meek Mill, and Lil Wayne.
Dillinger recounted an instance where Cam'ron utilized a modified version of the "Ambitionz Az a Ridah" beat for his 2002 song "Live My Life." Although Dillinger produced the beat and recorded vocals at New York's Baseline Studios, he alleged that Suge Knight's interference prevented him from receiving proper producer credit. The credit was instead given to another individual.
Despite Cam'ron's claims that Knight confronted him about using the beat, Dillinger stated that Knight no longer had leverage due to Death Row Records being bankrupt at the time. Dillinger also mentioned his ongoing legal disputes over publishing and Death Row, which began in 2001, reflecting on the transactional nature of business relationships.
