An eight-part heist thriller series titled The Day has been unveiled by Paramount+, featuring stars Minnie Driver, Luca Pasqualino, and Louisa Harland. This new series, inspired by the 2018 Belgian show 'De Dag,' is structured to unfold entirely within a single day.
The narrative centers on a bank robbery interrupted by police, leading to a tense siege. Initially, the story follows hostage negotiator Sylvia 'Vox' Voxley, portrayed by Minnie Driver, as she navigates the escalating crisis.
As the situation intensifies, the series rewinds to explore the events from the viewpoints of both the robbers and the hostages. This unique structure, with each episode shifting perspective, promises to continually reframe the truth and deepen the mystery.
The thriller was co-produced by Dynamic Television and Clapperboard Studios, with Ben Harris and Jesse O'Mahoney credited as writers. The original Belgian series was created by Jonas Geirnaert and Julie Mahieu.
The series is directed by Andy and Ryan Tohill. It will be available on Paramount+ across most territories, excluding Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
