Dawson's Creek Cast Reunites with Broadway Star's Surprise Appearance

Last month, the cast of the beloved teen drama Dawson's Creek reunited at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway for a special reading of the pilot script. The highly anticipated event was organized to raise funds for the F Cancer charity, with the cast members reprising their iconic roles.

However, one key member of the Dawson's Creek family was unable to attend the reunion. James Van Der Beek, who played the lead character Dawson Leery, had to cancel his appearance due to illness. Fortunately, the cast found the perfect replacement in the form of Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is close friends with Michelle Williams' husband, Thomas Kail.

Miranda's addition to the Dawson's Creek reunion was a big win for the cast and crew. "James was also very thrilled that Lin was able to step in. His kids and family were able to see Hamilton the day before," explained Busy Philipps, who portrayed the character Audrey on the show.

In addition to the script reading, the reunion also featured a special sing-along to the Dawson's Creek theme song, "I Don't Want to Wait" by Paula Cole. The cast was joined by Van Der Beek's children, who are "really amazing singers," to perform the iconic tune.
