Acclaimed Author Dave Eggers Unveils Sweeping New Novel 'Contrapposto'

Acclaimed author Dave Eggers is preparing to release his first adult novel in 5 years, titled 'Contrapposto'. The sweeping story, set to be published next June, explores a lifelong friendship and artistic partnership between two characters, Cricket Dib and Olympia Argyros.

Born on the American prairie, Cricket Dib discovers his talent for drawing in grade school. He soon meets the captivating and brilliant Olympia, one year his senior, who convinces him to deface a playground, sparking a 65-year entwining of their lives. Together, they attend art school and navigate the art world for the next 50 years, their relationship evolving through friendship, partnership, and a complex love affair.

Eggers, who is also a classically trained artist, has been developing the novel for nearly 20 years, drawing on his own experiences in the art world. He explains that the book's unique structure, with seven sections leaping ahead in years, helped him capture the essence of Cricket and Olympia's lifelong bond. Despite their differences, the two characters remain committed to each other and their pursuit of meaning through art.
