Dave Day's Final Ride: Biker Tribute Ends Due to Funding Woes
19 Apr
Summary
- The final Dave Day celebration for TV chef Dave Myers is set for June 20.
- Organizers cite funding issues and logistical complications for the last event.
- Previous events raised over £127,000 for charity.

The final Dave Day, a biker tribute to the late TV chef Dave Myers, is scheduled for June 20 in Barrow-in-Furness. This will be the last large-scale ride organized in memory of the Hairy Biker, who passed away from cancer in 2024. Organizer Jason Woodcock stated that funding difficulties and the complexity of arranging the event have led to the decision to conclude the celebrations.
Woodcock explained that while Dave Day is personally important, the projected costs for a fully organized event, estimated between £80,000 and £100,000, are prohibitive. Westmorland and Furness Council has committed £10,000 towards the safe management of the procession and offered staff assistance. However, the council emphasized that primary public safety duties remain with event organizers.
Previous Dave Day events in 2024 and 2025 were successful, fostering community spirit and raising significant funds for charity, with over £127,000 raised initially and £134,000 in the subsequent year. This year's ride will not have formal registration, and Woodcock will not be leading it, framing it as a ride with friends. He hopes it will be the largest yet, serving as a final ride to remember loved ones and Dave Myers.
